Cherry on Top

Ever see a dress and go, “Okay, I HAVE to have that”?

When I saw this dress at Forever 21, I decided that no matter what, it would be mine. Not only because I’m a sucker for dresses, but because of the pattern.

Did you have a motif or symbol you loved a kid? Mine was cherries. I have no idea how or when it started, but eventually, my friends and family would get me cherry-themed gifts every year. All my scents were cherry - my bodywash, body spray (throwback to wearing body sprays from Bath & Body Works instead of perfume in middle school), you name it. I had cherry pajamas, cherry stationery… the list goes on and on.

I even made Cherry my Girl Scout camp counselor name! And I do love to eat cherries.

As I got a bit older, the cherry motif became less present in my life. I did have a super cute sweater from Urban Outfitters in high school that had a cherry pattern. When fruit prints became a trend this summer, I promised myself it was time to get back to my love of cherries. I saw this dress (and a top I also bought) at Forever 21 and felt like an 11 year old again, only this time with better hair and no braces.

I dressed this up a bit to go out to dinner with a friend, but I feel like I’ll also wear it with Converse a lot this summer. Maybe even as a duster over jeans and a t-shirt!
