You guessed it - another favorites post!
I only get a new phone every few years, and I decided it was time for my upgrade because my iPhone 6S was 3 years old and the battery life was horrible. I could go from 100% to 20% in just a few hours on airplane mode while only using my phone as a camera while traveling. While the Face ID kinda creeps me out and having no home button took some getting used to, I’ve had the iPhone XS for about a month and I love it. It’s great to have amazing battery life and portrait mode.
Everlane Straight Leg Crop pants
These pants are perfection. I have them in Golden Brown, but will probably get more colors. I’d been searching for the perfect golden yellow pants and considered wide leg pants, but most wide legs look weird on me, proportionally. These straight legs are wider than all my other pants because I usually wear skinnies, so they give the idea of a wide leg on me without drowning my ankles. They fit like a dream everywhere else and the fabric is the perfect weight. So far, I’ve worn them mostly with graphic tees, but I can envision dressing them up a lot.
Keep It podcast
I mentioned this one a while back in my post of favorite podcasts. Keep It is a pop culture conversation podcast where the hosts talk about hollywood, politics, trending news and more. I love how one episode can include a discussion about the 2020 democratic field, female sexuality in Hollywood and literary icons. Currently, there are two hosts, writers/entertainment industry professionals/culture critics Ira Madison III and Louis Virtel, and a guest judge each week, along with super cool guests.
Supergoop Everyday Sunscreen
I bought this sunscreen during a recent Sephora sale because I realized that sunscreen was one of the last products I needed to find the right cruelty-free version of. I love that this sunscreen is lightweight, non-greasy, 50 SPF (I’m pale, so I need as much SPF as possible) and smells like sunflower extract instead of that usual sunscreen smell. It also feels great on my face, which I’ve never experienced with sunscreen before - usually I feel like I’m suffocating my pores. I wore this sunscreen on a recent trip to New York City, where I did a lot of walking around outside, and didn’t get burned at all. And it’s vegan too! I bought the 2.4 oz size for $19 and a little goes a long way, so I think it’s a good investment. Besides, I’d rather spend a lot of money on anything to do with my skin than skimp out and end up looking like an old leather glove with skin cancer.
True & Co. True Body Triangle Convertible Strap Bra
I have this in black and nude, and after five months of wearing these bralettes almost every day, I’m in love. I am never going back to a normal bra. These lightly padded bralettes are perfect for me because my breasts aren’t that big, but I do need a little support and can’t wear too flimsy of a bra. If you want $15 off to try one out, I have a referral link you can use (not a special promoted link, just the one any customer can create if they have an account).
Stranger Things season 3
I discussed this a little on Instagram, but the most recent season of Stranger Things has left me wreckt. It may even be my favorite season. I love that they finally did one set in the summer - it felt a bit lighter and definitely more comedic. There were hilarious lines, rad ‘80s fashions, and some of the best tv tropes. It’s hard to have a favorite character on this show because they’re all pretty wonderful, but I especially loved the scenes where Eleven and Max bonded and anything involving Hopper and Joyce. The finale definitely left me emotional and dreading the likely year and a half wait until the next season, but overall this season was amazing and I’ll probably rewatch it many times.
Katie Dean Jewelry Rose Ring
I just got this a few weeks ago at the Renegade Craft fair and I’ve barely taken it off since. I get compliments on it every day! The ring was on my wish list for months and I’m so glad I finally bought it.
She’s one of the artists I’ve listened to most this summer, especially her new singles “Cheap Queen,” and “Prophet.” Her version of pop is dreamy and just as fluid as her identity (Them called her the “genderqueer pop icon for the next generation”), with influences like Led Zeppelin and Jack White that are noticeable, but not completely copied. I’m so excited for her full-length album to come out so I can see her on tour and be in a room of other joyous queers.
